Wish You Were Here is the title track on Pink Floyds 1975 album Wish You Were Here.[3][4] Its lyrics encompass Roger Waters feelings of alienation from other people. Like most of the album, it refers to former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett and his breakdown. David Gilmour and Waters collaborated to write the music. On June 14, 2013, the song was released as an unofficial promotional single on Spotify and when the fans streamed it one million times, the rest of the bands catalogue was released, which happened after only 4 days. In 2011, the song was ranked No. 324 on Rolling Stones list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. Distinguished by their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and musically influential groups in the history of popular music.
