With 2 more sleeps before the grand opening of Sephora in Sydney - TopicsExpress

With 2 more sleeps before the grand opening of Sephora in Sydney everyone is going cray cray. Well in my news feed at least :). Reading this article posted by The Plastic Dairies talking about the US Vs AUD’s prices, it makes me wonder if we really are getting the US price or even close to their pricing. Everyone knows when it comes to cosmetics us Ozzie’s have to pay an arm and a leg whereas in US you can get Revlon lipsticks for less than $10. Here we pay around $25plus. Since I have never been in US ,only shopped online, I turned to my expert beauty/makeup obsessed fellow makeup artist Jolina OHair | Makeup Artist to ask the most important question “Umm so those price comparison US vs AUS, is that still good?” And her response is as follows ====WARNING, this post is quite lengthy ==== This article has been doing the rounds today about the upcoming Sephora Australia store and I just wanted to take the time to discuss it further. The US price does not state tax in it whereas the AUD price does. Each state in the US has different sales tax brackets with the maximum being 9.45% in Tennessee, so its hard to say how much US beauty consumers actually pay, so I thought I would take my experience of shopping in Hawaii last year as something to base these comparisons on and because its roughly in the middle of range at 4.5%. Ive taken a sample of some of the products they have listed to show you that its not as bad as what people are making it out to be. Kat Von D Lock-it Tattoo Foundation: $34USD + TAX (4.5%) = $35.53USD AUD CONVERSION = $42.26AUD PRICE IN SEPHORA SYDNEY= $49AUD Formula X Effects: $12.50USD + TAX (4.5%) = $13.06USD AUD CONVERSION = $15.54AUD PRICE IN SEPHORA SYDNEY = $22AUD BECCA Cosmetics Australia Powder Foundation: $40USD+ TAX (4.5%) = $41.80USD AUD CONVERSION = $49.72AUD PRICE IN SEPHORA SYDNEY = $55AUD tarte cosmetics Contouring Face Slenderizer $24USD + TAX (4.5%) = $25.08USD AUD CONVERSION = $29.83AUD PRICE IN SEPHORA SYDNEY = $36AUD There is roughly about an $8.00 difference in price which I think is quite insignificant, considering the amount of money people would save by not having to go overseas, pay shipping, or buy it on ebay to only find out it was a fake item. Sure it would make a difference to your pocket if you were buying a LOT of items but in the long run will it really be a big deal to you? It would set you back $800 if you bought 100 items (but thats a lot and most likely not what an average consumer would spend, me on the other hand? Im not an average consumer. Lol) For me, the bonus of having Sephora open in Australia is to bring accessibility of previously unavailable items as well as one of the best loyalty/rewards program I have ever come across - and I am a member of many. So please, before I hear people complaining about how its not the same as USD prices please do the math and if you can get it cheaper from elsewhere, please feel free to do so, but dont rain on my parade! I for one am absolutely ECSTATIC that Sephora is here! Thats it from me! See yall on Friday at Grand Opening! Jolz xxx
