With £28m Move for Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna By Jake Polden 27 January 2014 12,302Reads4Comments Numerous sources are reporting that Manchester City are weighing up a move for Arsenal’s French right-back Bacary Sagna, in a deal that would potentially set them back £28m. Sagna, who is out of contract with the North-London side in the summer, is believed to be on the radar of a number of high-profile clubs, with Monaco, PSG, Real Madrid, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray all showing interest in the 30-year-old. While City are yet to make an official approach, Arsenal may well be in danger of losing a fifth player to the Manchester club should Wenger refuse to reconsider Sagna’s current wage package. Believed to be on £60,000-a-week, with a two-year extension in the pipeline, Arsenal will face tough competition to recapture the right-backs signature with the aforesaid big spending clubs supposedly willing to double his weekly salary. Sagna, who has been on the same deal since 2008, is said to be disappointed with Arsenal’s reluctance to offer him an improved contract, especially considering his unmatched loyalty, which saw him turn down two previous lucrative deals tabled by City. Having now reached the age of 30 and having spent a large portion of his career in North London, Sagna may well be looking ahead to the future. And with the amount of interest being shown in the player, a high-profile summer transfer may well be on cards. Whether he’ll remain in the England, however, is another story.
