With 50 bucks worth of cheap computer equipment and some off-the-shelf software, I can eavesdrop on literally every single thing you do on your phone, without ever sending a signal or identifying myself in any legally useful way. I dont even need your password. I dont do it, but it is *absurdly,* *irresponsibly* easy and cheap to do. If you are reasonably careful and ***REALLY*** lucky, I might just get an encrypted stream. But realistically, Ill get the plaintext and lots and lots of personally identifiable metadata. Doesnt matter what brand or OS. Doesnt matter what carrier, frequency, GSM or CDMA, whatever. The only thing you can do is be in control of your stream and not delegate encryption to a third party, especially not your carrier.
