With Bryan Singer back in the directors chair, Days of Future past - TopicsExpress

With Bryan Singer back in the directors chair, Days of Future past is an amazingly nimble film. It moves with such swiftness and elegance between its character moments and set pieces that its easy to forget just how much stuff is being juggled. Its simply impeccably paced, and finds the right moments for both humour and poignancy. The ways it plays on the history of the franchise are beautiful, fun and heart breaking in equal measure. With the exception of some scenes in The Wolverine, these movies have never been tear jerkers for me before, but here I straight up cried like three times. I blame themes of time and history and regret for always getting to me! And also; actors. Speaking of which; this finally leverages James McAvoy properly, and regardless of who hes in a scene with, his Xavier is intense and absolutely captivating. When you have him in a scene with Hugh Jackman? *Sparks FOX didnt put there with computers.* Its a great film regardless, but as a unifying celebration of the franchise, its sorta exceptional. So brush up on your X-Men movies and go see it.
