With Nicholas coming home in just 2 DAYS, we are beyond ecstatic! Although we are so happy to have him home, we still have many financial responsibilities on top of rent and bills that we are faced with. Nicholas does have brain damage, but the doctors wont know the extent of it for at least a year. Most of the issues he may face will be behavioral, but we will learn any othe difficulties as we go. He will have 3 days of outpatient rehabilitation out of town which will mean a lot of driving. He has grown quite an appetite since being in the hospital. All of his meals will need to be prepared a specific way for quite a while. He is walking pretty well, but will still be using a wheelchair until he builds up enough strength and stamina. The main thing will be making sure he doesnt over do it. He doesnt quite understand that he cant yet do all of the things he did before he was hospitalized.
