With a brief lull in the election process, I’d like to take this - TopicsExpress

With a brief lull in the election process, I’d like to take this time to congratulate Clyde Mitchell and Jannquell Peters and to wish them the best in their run-off. I’d also like to thank all of my competitors, Ms. Pittman included, for helping me become a better candidate from the day I announced my candidacy in late August. I can only hope that I in turn made all of them better candidates. While admittedly I’m disappointed with where I ended up in the race, losing has never felt so good. I ran for mayor because I love East Point and I know our city could and should be so much more than what it is today. We have too much going for us to not be a thriving city. I also ran because I believe the future of city government is to have more of a grass roots engagement from the community and less of a “top down” approach. I knew too many very talented people had become disengaged because of our government dysfunction and it was my intent to inspire people throughout the community to help make our city great. I do believe in some way I was successful in my goal. Again, losing has never felt so good. I had so many people that I never met before tell me that because of my message they were excited about East Point and excited about getting back involved. I hope that inspiration not only continues on for the very people I met, but becomes infectious throughout all of our communities. I am so incredibly thankful and humbled that 700+ people believed in me. I am so incredibly thankful for my family, my old friends and my many, many new friends. I am so incredibly blessed, and again I’ll say losing has never felt so good. I don’t know what is next for me, but I can promise that whatever it is I will bring the same passion and hard work that I brought to this campaign. To all the candidates that participated in this process I enjoyed meeting all of you and respect you greatly. I am thankful for the bond formed while on “the trail”. Shannon, Greyson and Brogan I love you with all my heart. Thank you for walking with me, at times carrying me, and for believing in me. This has been a wonderful journey . . . losing has never felt so good
