With a growing number of cases of Chikungunya, and illness with symptoms similar to Chikungunya in Jamaica we want the BMP community to know that our first priority is the health and safety of our community members, our volunteers and our staff. Our Committee on Health and Water includes public health and medical professionals that are monitoring the situation closely and we are working in partnership with the St. Thomas Parish Department of Public Health. In response to the current situation we launched a community health program with the intention of visiting every home in Pennlyne Castle and Hagley Gap to share the latest information from the Ministry of Health and to minimize standing water and mosquito breeding grounds. We have a team of doctors, nurses and public health professionals visiting next month to meet the medical needs of our communities.
