With a new government taking shape on St. Maarten come Friday let me publicly call on our elected and appointed representatives of Saba and Statia to stop the lip service and immediately request to meet with the new government as of next week to discuss first of all the Winair issue. Can you still believe in order to travel between Saba and Statia one has to fly all the way from Saba to St. Maarten and then unward to Statia. At times it is faster to travel from St. Maarten to Curacao than from Saba to Statia. Windward Island Airways should have at least three times a week a scheduled flight from Saba to Statia and from Statia to Saba. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Another issue related to Winair is the representation of the two islands on the supervisory board of directors. Pure nonsense having a person living all the way in the Netherlands representing the two islands. Are you telling me that we cannot find 1 persons either from Saba or Statia to be on the board of directors come on people. We really gone backwards. Nobody can convince me that any man or woman living all the way in Holland can represent our concerns. The big question who on Saba or Statia knows this person has he even visited the islands and hold discussions with the people. Come on elected representatives election is months away and if you cannot handle or fix this then it makes no sense postulating yourself for another sweet heart term. Instead of Ronald van Raak and Bosman and some others interfering into the internal affairs of St. Maarten they should be tending to these issues for the two islands.
