With all the hype over the Ky- UL game tonight, how about some basketball history. Back in the dark ages ( 1971 ) Western Kentucky went to the final four. Western already had a tradition in basketball , but the interesting thing is where the players were from. Jim McDaniels- Scottsville. Clarence Glover- Caverna. Jim Rose- Hazard Jerome Perry- Louisville. Jerry Dunn - & Rex Bailey both from Glasgow. And of course an outsider Gary Sundmacker from Metropolis, IL. , just across the Ohio river from Paducah. The coach John Oldham was a fromer WKU player. I belive we may never see a team from KY. so successful with a majority of Ky. players.
