With almost $5,000,000 more avaiable in the City General Fund in - TopicsExpress

With almost $5,000,000 more avaiable in the City General Fund in 2015 ($19,249,000) than in 2013 ($14,643,000) there is absolutely no reason why The City Council should not: A: Immediately appropriate funds to purchase 8 additional police cruisers to replace those that were declared unsafe to drive by the Chief of Police in Oct 2014 B Appropriate several millions to resurfacing streets, so the new cruisers (and vehicles of city residents) are not damaged while traversing them There is NO VALID REASON for the City Council to continue to hold the City taxpayers hostage any longer. There is not going to be any approval of additional Income taxes unless the Voters of Massillon see these improvements immediately, and in fact, the Tax Credit Reduction ordinance that imposed additional income taxes on those employed outside the City... is going to be placed on the November 2015 ballot for repeal, so if the City Council wishes to have a chance at approval of their Income tax increase, and avoid repeal of the Tax Credit Reduction ordinance... It would do well to give what it OWES to the people and has stubbornly with held which is, first, and foremost: Safe smooth streets and actual police protection. This is OWED to the people, who have been dutifully paying City Income Taxes for 50 years and more.
