With almost a week gone we had our final breakfast in Munich with me hitting the champagne (might as well start the day as I mean to go on!). Then off to the airport and thankfully our taxi driver wasnt trying out for the Formula 1 and so our trip to the airport was uneventful. I guess the problem with a trip like this is the waiting which whilst is only a couple of hours seems to take forever - we were luck enough though to snag some really comfy chairs for our wait and Paul got in a sneaky last beer in Munich. Our flight to Berlin whilst being delayed leaving caught up time and it felt like we had only just taken off before our descent began. Our luggage surprisingly was off the carousel quite early so off we headed to find a taxi. Our taxi driver was a Jamaican Rastafarian who spoke some heavily accented English and explained to us that the Berlin marathon was still underway and so he would have to try and work out the best way to get to our hotel and miss the road blocks! If I thought our first taxi driver in Munich was hell bent on entering the Grand Prix - this guy was way ahead of him - weaving in and put of traffic doing at least 100kms all the while using his horn! Let me just say I will NEVER EVER complain about the taxi drivers in Bali again!!! We did however arrive safely at our hotel and thank you so much Linda Ann Hamersley for you recommendation because the apartment is awesome. After settling and putting on a load of washing we set off to get our bearings and some soft drink and beer. Along the way we stopped at a beautiful Biergarten and Paul had his first local beer on Berlin soil. Now some 5 kms later we managed to work our way back to our hotel managing to find a little store on the way. After a little rest we ventured out a little closer to home and had a traditional dinner at the local Lowenbrau Haus who were celebrating Oktoberfest where as youll see in the photos Paul has got into in a VERY big way!! Tomorrow we head off on our own walking tour of sorts to check out attractions like Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Zoo, Tiergarten and more
