With an intense, one eyebrow raised, gaze in my direction, the old man glared at me as if I had just asked the most offensive question known to mankind. Of course up here, the term ‘mankind’ didn’t really matter anymore. Not in Heaven anyway. Right?! Nevertheless, I had just offended the first of many men and women I had on the list to meet once I entered into God’s Kingdom. Not a great start by any means, but I was DYING to pick many a holy brain to know what it must have been like to be in God’s presence…to have these great men and women from Biblical history recount for me the stories I had come to know and love from God’s Word. “Seriously?!” Moses finally spoke. “You’re asking me what it was like to follow a cloud by day and fire by night…what it was like to meet God on the mountain? Do you know how many times I climbed that bad boy? Do these look like the knees of a mountain climber?” Moses smirked. “I had to climb that mountain to meet with God. You tell me what it was like to have him dwell within you every day. What was it like to have the Holy Spirit giving you directions when you didn’t know what to do or where to go?” [idea taken from Kyle Idleman, Not A Fan] Old Testament prophecy [Isaiah 7:14] speaks of a God (Immanuel) who would be ‘WITH US.’ John 1:14 [NLT] gives further testament to this: “So the Word became human and made his home among us.” Immanuel Himself (Jesus) revamps that Old Testament prophecy by taking it a step further, speaking of a God who would reside ‘IN US’…”When that day comes, you will know that I am in My Father. You will know that you are in Me. You will know that I am in you.” [John 14:20 NLV] Paul closes with encouraging emphasis: “Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. [Galatians 5:25 MSG] God, YOUR GOD, does not have to walk near you or beside you...does not even have to mysteriously hover overhead. GOD. IS. IN. YOU.
