With five days remaining for the worlds most followed sporting event, I am getting into the super excited mode! FIFA 2014 will be an epic tournament without doubt. Here is a quick take on the top teams: Brazil: Definitely the favorites at home and expected to win their 6th World Cup title. Argentina: Always a significant team, although have not looked the same after their talismanic Diego Maradona. But probably the second favorties after the hosts. Germany: They used to say Football is a game played by 22 players from 2 teams and in the end, Germany always wins. Never to be ruled out. Italy: Always my favorite team, they have a flair in their lack of flair. Second only to Brazil in success, Italy is a team meant for the big stage. Spain: The defending champions are not as great as they were 4 yrs back, but they still have the style to wrap this one up. Uruguay: Never really a title contender since 1950s, this Uruguay team is a league apart from the ones seen for last 50 odd years. And it will be my favorite due to one man called Luis Suarez. Belgium: They are touted as Dark horses by so many people that they are almost expected to go very far. But still not time for them to win a world cup. And not to forget other World cup winner sides like France and England and the non-winning top sides like Holland and Portugal. Asian sides like Korea and Japan are no longer push overs and African sides like Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon and Cote DIvoire are going to be significant in pulling off upsets. Incidentally, Ghana and Algeria are two countries where I lived and they will have my emotional support as well. So, who are you going to support over the next one month??
