With great pain, trauma & anguish, I finished watching 12 Years a Slave. For the life of me, I will never understand why or how that movie won awards...for best what...Beatings? Inhuman Acts & treatments? Tearing families a part? Kidnappings? Rape? Not taking away from the actors & actresses in the movie, but Denzel never received any awards for his outstanding performance(s) in John Q, Glory, Malcolm X, Mo Betta Blues, Inside Man, Flight and my favorite, Devil In a Blue Dress. So, would it be fair to say that they would rather give black people awards for portraying roles of extremely harsh, real-life suffering than normal & regular movies? No, Seriously?
