With great pleasure we announce the official launch of the Observatory Running Club which is now officially registered with Athletics South Africa (ASA). This means that you can now join the club and formally represent the ORCs at race meets where you will receive discounts off entries. The second piece of exciting news is that the running tops are also finalised and we are ready to start taking orders. The running top is your annual membership to the ORCs. However you will also need to register with ASA if you want a permanent running number (although this is not obligatory). The cost of the ORC membership is R300 (including a New Balance tech-top) and R100 for ASA. We will also be releasing a formal race singlet (required for competing) that will be available at cost price once prices have been confirmed. However it gets even more exciting. A number of businesses have agreed to support the ORCs by offering specials to club members. Although not yet complete, benefits of membership so far include: Discounted New Balance club shorts (to match the top), All night happy hour on beers and cocktails at The Foreign Exchange (Wed and Fri), 1/3 off all food at Sticky Fingers (all week), Free pass to the Sport Science Institute Gym, And more to come… To sign up complete the attached form. Details of where to make payment will be provided as well as instructions of where to sign up with ASA should you want to. We will aim to print the first batch of T-Shirts at the beginning of Feb. So don’t delay. Come be the first ever ORCs! For our OVERSEAs ORCs (ORCS on Tour), who understandably don’t want to miss out on such a cool top, the R300 will include P&P direct to you. Please note that as a social running club, neither membership of the ORCs, nor ASA, will ever be obligatory and you will always be welcome to join us for our club runs, on a casual basis, at any time.
