With great sadness the Southern Tier Police Canine Association Inc. announces the passing of K9 Jax, Jax started his law enforcement career in 2005 with Deputy Williams of the Tioga County Sheriffs Office, NY. Deputy Williams was forced into an early medical retirement leaving Jax looking for a handler that could help him fulfill his god given desire to work. Chief McCulskey of the Owego NY Police Department took on the role as partner to Jax for the Owego Police. Jax and his handler Capt. McCulskey moved onto the New Berlin NY Police Department and currently work for the Spencer NY Police Department. Jax and McCulskey passed certification with NYS and several national police K9 organizations for narcotics detection. Jax could not and would not retire because he was meant to be a Police Officer. Jax left a lasting impression with all that met him. Jax passed away today with his partner and family. He will be truly missed, thank you Jax for making this world a better place.
