With greater attention now than ever, being paid to the humanitarian crisis at U.S.- Mexico border, its important to know about the alarming trend of children alone at the border. Today, thousands of undocumented children are fleeing drug cartels, gang violence, gender-based persecution, and other deeply traumatic life circumstances and children as young as five, are without family, shelter and direction. Childhood has for many years provided support to Legal Services for Children, an organization that has developed to play a leadership role in providing these vulnerable children with the necessary support and tools to be raised in a safe environment.
