With international headlines filled with the news of nurses contracting the Ebola virus, ICN would like to reiterate our support for nurses everywhere who are at risk. We urge international organisations and governments to address the severe impact of Ebola on nurses and other health workers by ensuring they receive appropriate training, protective equipment and psychological support. ICN has immense respect for the nurses in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone who are risking their lives to continue to care for the population, and for the nurses in other countries such as the United States and Spain where new cases have emerged. Finally, we encourage nurses to learn more about the Ebola virus, its transmission, treatment, prevention and control.
