With just one day left in my time of being a parent of teenagers, - TopicsExpress

With just one day left in my time of being a parent of teenagers, I keep thinking about my parent mantra...“in the blink of an eye” and how often Ive kind of thought, and heard other parents say except for those teenage years, of course So as I pass through the portal, I just have to say I will miss my teenagers. It’s been a hoot and a half, and I’ll always have some very fond memories of eyeball rolling; occasional unpleasant faces on family trips; the “No Way, it’s rated R” fights; all the IM’ing/Myspace/FB/texting/“what are you looking up on the computer?” monitoring; the skirt’s too short/top’s too tight discussions; sleepovers; BFF troubles; BF troubles; broken hearts; broken cell phones; wishing I didn’t have to drive you everywhere; you getting your driver’s license (and me wishing I could just go back to driving you everywhere) soccer, basketball, softball, water polo games; band concerts; art shows; dress shopping; Homecoming Dances; Prom; college visits; ACT exams; college decisions; scholarship awards; HS Graduation… and just being so proud of you (and us) for making it! It seems to me that only in the house of a teenager can a person have the incredible honor of feeling hated and loved all in the same day. And eventually, at the end of the teenage run you (pretty much) get to experience just the latter. Now thats rewarding :)
