With just one round left of the Big V season, a number of our ACB students are already preparing for finals for their teams who are already guaranteed to go through. Still others are fighting to remain in finals contention, and Round 16 concluded over the weekend with several ACB athletes having a big impact for their local team. Mikaela Dickson had a big weekend for the Latrobe City Energy Division 1 Women with two wins from their two games against Hawthorn and Southern Pen, Mikaela scoring 14 points and dishing 3 assists against Southern Pen and having a big game against Hawthorn with 36 points and 4 rebounds. In Division 1 Men, Daniel Borbajo scored 22pts and grabbed 8 rebounds in the Altona Gators win over Craigieburn, after losing to Jeremiah Amoahs Melbourne Uni Angels the night before. Joel Smith was valiant in defeat for the Keilor Thunder Division 2 Mens side, with 21pts, 15rb,3 steals and 4 assists in the loss to Casey Cavaliers. It was a mixed bag for the students in the VYCM competition, with Jesse Hockey and Tito Kwajakwan and their Frankston Blues coming up against former student Casey Marshall, current student Mitch Unwin and new student David Tomat and their Knox Raiders. Hockey managed 14 pts, 6rb and 3 assists while Tito contributed 5pts, 5rb and 5 assists for the Blues, while Marshall scored 18pts and 5 rb, Tomat 2pts and 8 rb and Unwin 16pts and 5 rb to get the Raiders the win. Unfortunately the Raiders couldnt get a second win the next day, going down to Kilsythm Marshall with another 12 points and Unwin with 15 pts and 5 rbs. The Luke Van Rijn, Sean Badewitz and Jordan Noble led Nunawading Spectres unfortunately had their winning streak snapped by the Dandenong Rangers, Van Rijn with 9pts and 4 rbs, Noble 8pts and 5 rb and Badewitz finishing with 16pts and 5rb. Another great round of results and another week of ACB training ahead before the final round of Big V regular season action! *****Applications for our February 2015 intake are now being accepted, for more information contact getoncourt@basketball,edu.au*****
