With kennel cough running rife all over the various parks of Leeds, im doing my utmost to contain the spread amongst my clients dogs. The moment I hear a single cough on the walk, I watch the dog carefully, and if it continues, I inform the owner I believe their dog has kennel cough, and cancel the dog until a week after the cough has ceased. Therefor, imagine my reaction when a client informs me today that his 5 day a week dog, started with kennel cough THREE WEEKS ago, but the vet has only just told him! His poor dog has a regular problem with his lungs and is on permanent steroids, so when his dog coughed a few weeks ago, I mentioned it (assuming his steroids needed increasing again), he took Ziggy to the vet, and the vet started him on antibiotics, without informing the owner why. The owner obviously just assumed it was the lung problem again. The vet has now just casually told the owner that his dog seems to be over his kennel cough. Am I right to be feeling so furious towards this vet? Ive had three dogs come down with it since Ziggy started. All of them have been walked wioth him, and have travelled in the van with him. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Fuming!!!!
