With less than three months left to go before the end of the year, the vast majority of this years Oscar hopefuls will start arriving at movie theatres across the country. It begins today with the release of David Finchers Gone Girl. Then later this month... October 17th - Birdman An off-kilter black comedy from Oscar-nominated director Alejandro González Iñárritu, Birdman opened the 71st Venice International Film Festival to rave reviews. Michael Keaton headlines as an actor famous for portraying an iconic superhero, but struggling to transition his career to the Broadway stage. Cath Clarke of Time Out says Michael Keaton soars in this savagely funny, strangely sweet, sad and utterly brilliant New York-set comedy. The rest of the pictures ensemble includes Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts, who previously received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her work in González Iñárritus 2003 drama 21 Grams. This time around, significant Oscar buzz centers around Keaton and Stone, while last years winner for Best Cinematography Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity) could very well earn his 7th career Oscar nomination.
