With little Nicole at SGH A&E now. Saw her on our home visit tonight and found that poor Nicole, who is 15 months old, sustained about 5% body surface area burns on her left lower limb and abdomen from accidental hot water scalding 3 days ago. Due to financial difficulties, they were reluctant to bring her to the A&E. But in fact, they are already on financial assistance from the government and should not be worried about the cost of medical treatment. It is only with repeated reassurance that they are willing to let me bring her to the A&E for treatment tonight. Often times, it is those who needed help who are most ignorant about the help that is available to them. Im glad we made a difference to little Nicole tonight through our house visit. Our grassroot volunteers will continue to follow up with this family and ensure they are plugged in to the many schemes that are available to cover their needs. We need to cover the last mile to make sure everyone in need is reached. Get well soon Nicole!
