With my inaugural post, I feel I should come right out with it. CHICAGO, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?!?! Are we that bored that shootouts became a pastime? I love my city and will forever keep CHICAGO or CHITOWN on my shoulders, never chiraq. Thats stupid. I was in no way an angel in the hood but at some point you have to want better for yourself and family. We got parents telling kids to drop outta school so they can be a rapper or video vixen. The chances are slim to none, every body wont make it. So why not promote education, good credit, being a REAL parent instead of letting grandma raise your kids. Then we wonder why the city is a step away from martial law. Get mad if you want to but black folks always wanna blame someone else for their troubles, were causing our own troubles. We knock each other down instead of helping each other. Most crimes against blacks are committed by our own kind. We can stand on the block for 20 hours straight to shoot a video or slang, punch folks for no reason but wont punch a time clock for 8 hours. You can hustle legally, if you dont wanna work for what theyre paying then you got 2 choices. Learn a trade or skill, or start your own business. Dont sit around waiting for your friends or folks to hook you up with a job and get mad when they dont. I find it funny how folks say you not keeping it real of you move from the good, why? Because I want my kids to live past their teenage years? Because I wanna die of old age, leaving behind something my kids and grandkids can be proud of? Because I dont wanna spend my whole life ducking bullets, police and bill collectors? Wake up folks.
