With reversion comes the need to update your weather radios to insure you continue to get hazard weather alerts from the national weather service. Effective, July 1 with the reversion of Bedford City moving to town status, new information will need to be placed in weather radios programmed to Bedford City channels. Weather radios rely on FIPS codes to determine what information released by the National Weather Service comes to the radio. Currently, weather radios programmed to Bedford City code 515 will need to be reprogrammed to the Bedford County code of 019 or you will no longer be able to receive National Weather alerts and warnings. Please take the time to insure your preparedness and reprogram radios to reflect the changes.
