With some regularity fellow poets keep us apprised of their poems acceptance in lit mags, or the publication of their latest book. I salute you one and all, though this is not and has not been my method for a very long time. My career, if that what it actually is, has been marked by the creation of more than a few open ended series, some of which eventually arrive at a conclusion. Theses projects carry on for years if not decades; and some may never end. THE TRUCK STOP VIGNETTES, for instance, took 30 years to complete. The Elegies, Parables, Wrath and Snapshots, are still open ended and each is in at least its second decade. Speaking only for myself, since there is no one way to ascend the poetic mountain; i find it more important to explore who i am as a poet, believer, American, citizen, and human being from one poem to the next, than it is to commodify this process through publication. FB has provided me with all the outlet i need; and, as ive said more than twice, i find the immediate responses far more gratifying than acceptance by literary gatekeepers
