With speculation surrounding the future of young star Raheem Sterling mounting every day, Brendan Rodgers is convinced the player will stay and sign a new contract in the near future, according to Sky Sports. The 19-year-old has been linked with a number of top clubs across Europe - giants Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid are both credited with serious interest, but has been in talks with his club for a number of weeks over a new deal. While no contract has been agreed upon Rodgers appears adamant that he will get one of his most prized assets to stay at the Anfield outfit. He said: “His agent is a good agent and he understands this is the perfect place for him. “Its not a big issue for us. Ian Ayre has spoken with his representatives and he is quite relaxed. The club is dealing with the agent so everything is calm. “The boy is remarkably happy here and there are no secondary thoughts about anything else other than continuing to play for Liverpool. “Also, to continue with his development because he still has a lot of growth and for that the best place for him to be is here. His representatives respect that and the club respects that. So that will get sorted out in time. Sterling only recently signed a new deal with Liverpool that saw his salary jump to a substantial £50,000 a week – a lot of money for a teenager, but could see current negotiations make him one of the top earning players at the club. It is thought he will be offered double his wages alongside heavy incentives that will be similar to the new contract striker Daniel Sturridge penned last week – and he could end up matching the £150,000 his fellow England international could earn should he hit the targets set. #adminbally
