With thanks to Alan Moir This is something that troubles me. You see, when I saw the pictures, I though anorexia victim being force fed, and then I though, guess youve never seen the production method used for Foie Gras. But then I read the story and it suddenly became clear. Decent stunt by Lush. But then you need to read a bit deeper into the story. Ban all animal testing. Thats pretty off kilter. Force feeding a goose a decent percentage of its body weight in corn every day in order to develop a fatty liver and thus the highest quality of pate is not experimentation. Until we eradicate the greed that drives these practices, we will never be able to offer protection. Animal testing? A turbulent area with many shades if grey. I for one believe in some degree of testing. Every drug on the market today, from salicylic acid to AIDS cocktails have been animal tested and with good reason. (I will not discuss the ethics of human drug testing, be it voluntary or enforced) Botox. Silicate implants. Lipstick. None of these have a place on an animal. If the body shop is animal free, why cant a popular high street chemist named after an item of foot ware be the same. Talk amongst yourselves.
