With the NFL season almost here, and local fans riding the Super Bowl high still, I thought I would finally chime in on my thoughts on the Redskins name debate. Everyone who knows me or has been to the man cave knows I bleed burgundy and gold, I am some percentage Native American, I truly do not know the exact amount. Here is what I do know, 1st, a state in our country translates to land of the red people, how is this not a much bigger issue then the mascot of a privately owned entity? Second, a school district here in Washington State made up of 65% Native American students has voted to keep the mascot as the Redskins it is that offensive. Third, this is the same exact lawsuit that was filed in 1992, and over turned on appeal. Forth, 99% of people are offended by something, so lets just ban everything. While some of this is said in jest, I understand some are offended by the name, I get it I am white, I never have faced slavery, or being stripped of my land or rights, but I also have not be allowed to operate a business that is illegal to everyone else (with the exception of a couple of states). I also know that there are just as many Native American folks that defend, respect, and pridefully represent our fan base. BTW the way Ms. Cantwell, maybe you should focus your efforts on fixing the problems here in this Washington, a state who is so offended by the name, that its school which is made up of 65% Native Americans will be keeping its mascot as the Redskins , and stop trying to position yourself for a better job in DC. I am sure I will have pissed off or offended someone, if so feel free to unfriend me because until the day I die the football team in DC will be the WASHINGTON REDSKINS!!!!! One more BTW can we all agree the Dallas Cowboys are the most offensive team in the NFL!!!!!!! ALL HAIL THE REDSKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
