With the SACA Grade Competition cancelling games as a mark of respect to the passing of Phil Hughes, the senior playing group and members of the clubs U16 team came together to share in a day as a whole community. With flags at half mast, bats and caps on display, black armbands worn, the group shared in 63 seconds of silence at the Hookes Pavilion as a sign of respect and remembrance for Phillip Hughes. As a club, there could be no better place for this process to occur. The David and Pat Hookes Pavilion. David was a club, state and Australian cricket legend who lost his life to a head injury 10 years ago after celebrating a days play with both Victorian and South Australian players at a local hotel. He was the current Victorian coach at the time. It was day of beers, BBQs, cricket, mates and memories and was well enjoyed by all and hopefully aided our group in dealing with the tragic events that occurred last week and have effect the cricket community around the world.
