With the Saturday industrial action almost upon us, I want to take this opportunity to say a word or two to the collegues who continue to support the union (which of course is all of us) and back the action, despite financial hardships. It’s been my pleasure to work alongside some of you for many years, to laugh with you in the canteen and to share the sad times when we’ve lost a workmate. Whether the workforce win or not, I feel proud to say that I have known each and every last one of you, and stood shoulder to shoulder with you all in this time of trouble and dispute. I have often wanted to leave, and have often made no secret of the fact. The thing that’s kept me there over fourteen years has been the loyalty and the camaraderie of the Wigan depot crew. Whether we win or lose, that’s what makes us who we are. Let’s never forget it. Enjoy your Saturdays off, everyone
