With the culmination of a community leadership program, the 25 or so participants were looking for a project where they could put their skills to use. Robby Larsen, participant and director of gift development at George Fox University, said the group decided a public art installation would be the way to go. Organizing an Earth Day celebration came secondary. “We thought we want to have an event to unveil and dedicate it, to bring the community together. We thought because the art installation itself is related to the Earth, we thought Earth Day would be a perfect timeline to celebrate that and unveil it,” Larsen said. “This is a fairly unique thing that we saw that tied into the project.” The unveiling, and Earth Day celebrations, are slated for April 22.
