With the current controversy with the band KISS and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it has come to light that KISS, as it stands, is trying to preserve it’s corporate brand for what will be the future of KISS. It seems that the remaining original members of the band are contemplating retirement. Gene Simmons, with a recent partnership with the Fox owned AXS television network, are planning on launching a reality-based competition called KISS LEGACY. KISS LEGACY will be an American Idol type show where Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer will scour the country for new members to continue the band KISS. They will judge the competition based on several categories that, each week, an episode will focus on. These will be sound-alike, instrument proficiency, theatrics, and the ability to write and perform original material. As the contestants are eliminated it will come down to a group of twelve that are put together in groups of four. One Demon, one Star Child, one Space Ace, and one Cat Man per group. They then perform together a classic KISS song and a new original song on the KISS stage with full pyrotechnics. American KISS fans then vote for their favorite Demon, Star Child etc. from each group. The winners will be announced in the final show and the resulting band will be the new KISS. Each member given a five-year contract and a sizeable salary. In return the winners will write and record a new KISS record under the production of Gene Simmons and embark on a global tour. This will ensure that KISS continues and remains a viable brand.
