With the hunting season growing near, the Alaska Dept of Wildlife is stressing the danger of Grizzly bear attacks. Hunters are urged to learn the difference between the Grizzly and Black bear. They are further urged to carry Capsicum Pepper spray to ward off the Grizzly and to wear small bells on their clothing to alert the bear so as not to surprise them. Further identification of the bears can be readily determined by their scat. Black bear scat contains berries and fur from squirrels, Grizzly scat smells like Tabasco sauce and contains small bells.
