With the promulgation of the internet came the creation of a precedent known as Godwins Law, which states that the first person in a given argument to mention Adolf Hitler -- to pull the Hitler card, as it were -- automatically loses. The somewhat tongue-in-cheek principle is a bid to address cheap rhetorical victories obtained by comparing an opponents views to one of the most notorious villains in human history. But there are times when the comparison is justified. And the similarities between Putins recent actions and the lead up to World War II are too stark to be ignored.
