With the simple intention of enriching our lives we decided to volunteer at least one hour a week in our community. We organized a group on Meetup (Dallas Community Builders) and for our first weeks activity we chose to visit with the elderly at CC Young Retirement Home. We were a little disappointed when nobody signed up but we were determined to brighten the day of as many as we could. Armed with flowers and pound cake we entered the home and found no one. We walked up and down the halls until we heard a loud TV. Stephen knocked on the door and a lovely old couple invited us in. They thought we were bringing flowers and cake for their wedding anniversary. As it turns out, Wally and Lawrean were celebrating their one year anniversary since reconnecting after 72 years! We listened to their jokes and their extraordinary story and came to find out theyre a celebrity couple. Their story has been told all over the news.
