With this new congress taking control and talking of eliminating funding to things like SS disability I personally think the following should occur. A national day of protest (non partisan) on the steps of Congress and at every local office of senators and members of congress across the nation. We should DEMAND that congress make serious cuts in their wages, retirement funds, health care and all of their entitlements and amenities like gyms and other perks that they enjoy. This needs to be something that is tied to the the national budget (yes including the white house and the supreme court). When we are at a deficit they need to take at least a 10 % cut across the board. It should also be law that NO increases or raises or entitlements to high level government elected officials or their appointees should be legal unless there is a budget surplus.
