With this new year 2015 now here, I want to say something to all my friends and family about something on a small/personal scale and on a much larger one. My Daddy, Jimmy Dale Rauch has battled with Parkinsons for over 10 years now. He is 78 years old and before this disease, he was healthy and the most active person I have ever known. My Dad was friends with everyone and couldnt go anywhere without running into someone he knew. Recently he fell and broke his hip. He had surgery and has had complications. He has been in and out of the hospital including ICU. He has had a very difficult time and his overall health continues to decline. He is now at National Healthcare on Sunset Blvd in West Columbia near Lexington County Hospital. I ask if you know him or are related to him to try to visit him sometime in the near future while he is still around and knows who you are. Send him a card. Call him. You dont have to be able to understand him to say Hi! You were on my mind and I wanted let you know. Dont wait until it is too late. And if you dont know him, I think this can be applied to all of us who know someone who may be elderly and/or in poor health or just someone who crosses our mind and there isnt an age or health issue but weve just lost touch over the years. Reach out NOW and just say Hi!, pick up the phone, or send a card. You dont have to have an deep conversation but just say I was thinking about you. It only takes a few minutes of your day. Is that person important enough to do something small now while theyre still here? Just sayin. God Bless!
