Within my circle of friends here on FB, we talk about issues of race a lot. We are diverse as to ethnicity and cultural background but we share in the belief that these issues must be continuously examined and considered. At the same time, as a former pilot and self described airplane nut, I understand the bond that pilots have with one another. I also understand how that bond transcends so many issues that get in the way of common understanding and mutual respect. With this in mind, watch the following video. At first glance, it is about being a combat pilot and what that means on a bunch of levels. What comes out, however, is that the squadron involved is the very same squadron that was once the original Tuskeegee Airmen. It is now fully integrated and as you listen to the pilots speak of each other and their units history, you hear pride both in each other and in who their forebearers were. They are pilots and to them, being a good stick, getting the job done with honor and saving the lives of their fellow service members, is what is key, not the race of the person doing it. I think the key factor lies in being able to focus on what is really important and what is not. Maybe this can seerve as a lesson learned, a source of inspiration and an example of what can be. https://youtube/watch?v=6Ts7TQno6Ko
