Within the last few days we have received emails & letters from Soldiers and Marines stationed in Afghanistan asking for help in shipping supplies. Most are living in unsanitary conditions, some in tents, and some in sandbag bunkers. We wan...t to urgently ship packages ASAP to these Troops. We will be collecting items all day tomorrow (Saturday June 29th at the VAC (Veteran Activity Center) (2184 Pond Road Ronkonkoma, NY 11779) from 0900 till 1600 hours . Items requested are: Packets or cans of tuna and chicken, Socks. Toiletries, Snacks that won’t melt, Drink mixes, Protein items or snack bars, Peanut butter, Writing materials, Bed sheets, Games, Pen-pals (letter or email), Weapon cleaning materials. Cleaning and laundry soaps. Ziplock bags, Sunscreen. Bugspray. Flea Collars. Roach & rodent traps. . We will also be collecting pantry food and furniture for Long Island Veterans that have requested help this month. Most have recently been homeless and are on the HUD-VASH program. One OIF/OEF Veteran lost everything in a fire. We are also in need of supplies for babies (newborns to 3 months) such as baby food and diapers. We do put more specific needs on our facebook page. .
