Within the vast woods of southern New Jersey, there is a legend that has been told from the days of colonial America. According to legend, in the Pine Barrens, lived the Leeds family. The mother birthed 12 kids and she was on her 13th child. On the night of the birth, in an act of pain and exhaustion, she was reported to say that she wanted this child to be a devil. She gave birth to a boy, but as the witness tending to both Mother Leeds and the baby, the baby started to change. It began to morph into a vile creature that resemble that of what Mother Leeds commanded; to become a devil. It attacked several people, before, taking flight out of the house chimney. That is when the legend of the Jersey Devil began. There has been many sightings of the creature spanning from Jersey to the Philadelphia area. Because of this, there was a reward posted to whomever finds and/or kills the beast. To this day, many people can hears the wailing screams and, in some cases, witness the Leeds Devil himself. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_Devil
