Without speculating too much, it appears that the 2016 Cannonball has just gotten its earliest entrant. This 1903 Rex was purchased yesterday and will be ridden by Carson Classic Motors Team Member Steve Norton. Steve has served spectacularly for two races as our hardworking crew chief. This 1903 Rex is extremely rare, with reports of only a dozen or so in the world, and is completely unrestored. Power is supplied by a two and one quarter horsepower, single cylinder Rex engine with atmospheric intake valve, no exhaust pipe, no carburetor (known as a surface carburetor), and a battery/coil ignition. Oh, and this unrestored machine runs! Congratulations to Mr. Norton and good luck in 2016.
