Without unions, if your company wants to make benefits scarce, or get rid of you for no reason, you are screwed. A union is able to negotiate and contract for its members, where without that support you dont stand a chance. I spent 27 years working for a company that laid off many people who had perfect work records and many with bad records are still there just because the person who chose who was to be laid off liked them. that is not acceptable but I have no way to fight it. With a union I would have had a chance.
