Woke up feeling sad about the state of affairs in our Calcasieu Parish School Board. Recently a veteran teacher of 30 plus years simply had enough and walked off the job. She grew tired of the multiple unannounced visits in her classroom by the staff. 12 in three months. I would have walked off as well. Forcing teachers to teach what they know is flawed and then playing watchdog over them is worse. This only serves to widen the gap of adversarial attitudes between the staff, the teacher, the parents and the citizens of Calcasieu Parish. Perhaps its time to stop fighting, and seek reasonable solutions - TOGETHER - . The current staff has lost all confidence from the teachers. There should be a meeting of the stakeholders to begin weeding out the problems, seeking solutions and implementing those solutions. Why do you suppose I come to know such information? Because teachers show up at our home, bear the hearts and soul with us. Ive no wish to be belligerent towards anybody, but I will continue to post things as I bear witness to them. Teachers are afraid to speak out bc of the bullying and the adversarial attitudes within the central office. Go ahead and pick on me, but please dont pick on our teachers and the other professionals who are working hard to defend them. It is just unseemly. For anyone to believe the common core is generally accepted by teachers in Calcasieu Parish is fundamentally incorrect andout of touch at ground zero - the classrooms.
