Woke up to some good news today. It seemed the name-a-star gift I grabbed for Heidi had arrived via USPS while it might not last, I swear she was happy for at least a fleeting moment. For some reason I didnt expect her to upload photos and tag Jackies family members but their reactions were just... heartwarming. So with that getting me in such a good mood I was able to sit down with two of the games I had planned to try over the weekend with no distractions. In Diablo 3 I started running the demon huntress, partially because Fredrik recommended her, partially because shes apparently canonically female even though you can make all the characters either gender, and partially because I am already getting into long range characters - such as the Dryad huntress in Sacred 2 - in this type of game anyway. I played until the first major boss the undead king was dead, and explored the next area beyond that for a bit. The port is actually great for the most part with some very smart adjustments made to the controls and even enemy behavior to fit the console release. My only real gripe with the game is that at least for now it -seems- to keep with the dark and brooding theme at all times, and the unified skill tree makes character building almost irrelevant since youll get everything anyway. The second game was Tomb Raider Legend on the Tomb Raider Trilogy disc that I got a while back when I was still shooting up the new game like crack cocaine. I had a pretty terrible experience with Underworld initially and the Anniversary remake didnt seem like it was any better than the original. But I remember speaking to Kei about this recently and he said Legend was actually legit so I figured why not give the disc another shot? And wow, I actually like it a LOT more than I thought I would. Shooting mechanics are actually surprisingly fun and functional, the platforming puzzles arent overly migraine inducing and look of the game is actually pretty good for a PS2 port. Ill grab some food now and plan what to get into next. Got Amalur in the download pile since I havent played it in forever due to limited HD space but I might end up getting back into either of these regardless. Maybe I should?
