Woman sentenced for bank robbery From the Bryan Times: By Max Reinhart An Indiana woman was sentenced Tuesday to 24 months incarceration after robbing an Edgerton bank and leading police on a high-speed pursuit. Kelly J. Chaney, 47, 3712 N. Skinner Lake Road West, Albion, Ind., pled guilty and was found guilty of third-degree felony robbery in Williams County Common Pleas Court last month. On May 10, Chaney held up the Hicksville Bank branch office at 304 N. Michigan Ave., Edgerton. A bank teller reported the suspect had driven off in a white pickup. Edon Police Chief Thomas Szymczak was able to locate Jones in the vehicle and followed her across the state line in Steuben, and then DeKalb County, Indiana. Radio transmissions indicated the chase reached speeds of 90 miles per hour. Police said the woman led officers through a field during the pursuit in an effort to avoid stop sticks. Unable to shake authorities, Jones stopped the car and surrendered. Police said evidence linking her to the robbery was located in the pickup. She was arrested by Indiana State Police at the scene and indicted on a charge of robbery later that month by a Williams County grand jury. There were no reported injuries in the incident and, according to reports, Chaney was unarmed during the robbery. Law enforcement in Indiana was pursuing charges against Chaney, including resisting arrest and receiving stolen property.
