Women are often taught to think its powerful to hold people hostage with what they did wrong. One of the reasons women are so prone to cling to the past is because they are nurturers by nature. Its great when youre talking about a child or nursing a loved one but when you nurture your own pain and it draws milk and grows from you that that toxicity becomes a cancer from you. When you hold on to your history you do it at the expense of your destiny. You are a limited resource when you spend all that energy energizing where youve been that you end up not having the fuel, fire, tenacity, and aggressiveness that you need to energize where youre going. Your not powerful holding grudges, forgiveness does not exonerate the perpetrator, it does not justify their behavior, forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. Because you let it go, so that you are available to be your highest and best self, and because your saying its not stronger than you, that you are in control of it.
