Women, it might be comforting to know that most men have daddy-issues, too. So many of the men you yearn to love - and be loved by - were let down by fathers who simply did not know how to fully show up for their families. Perhaps their fathers were present, took care of the family and genuinely did their best, but often checked out emotionally. Perhaps their fathers were good fathers but totally ignorant about how to truly love and honor the vast wonder of a woman. Perhaps their fathers were simply clueless about how to emotionally connect with their sons. Perhaps those fathers did everything right in raising a young boy, yet had no vision for guiding that boy into mature manhood. Perhaps their fathers outright abused them, or left. Or both. Perhaps a million things. Our fathers were human, too, mostly doing the best they knew to do. Regardless, a mans daddy-issues matter. The wounds of a father who just wasnt fully there can cause a man to resist everything he truly wants for himself. I spent this past weekend in deep, intimate communion with everyday Men whose hidden hearts burn to live courageous lives of authentic service to their partners, their children, their communities. Every Man in your midst deeply yearns for such a life, whether he knows it or not. Most every man in your midst is dealing with unhealed father issues that may get in the way. Hell probably deny it if you ask. Though he could be the exception. Theres always a few. But then ask him about his mother ;) Our planet desperately needs Men in their wild, mature fullness. Men unafraid to live their deepest truth in service to the whole. Now. As for me, I am constantly striving towards an authentic life of service. I fail often enough. But I say practice not perfection. I am a Warrior Man of The ManKind Project.
