“Women of the Century” (Les Femmes du Siècle) a 1978 tribute by Ganeau in Fine-Art porcelain to the ascendance of western women in the 100 years of Paris fashion. “In a dramatic reaction to the rigours of the war, Sophie retreats briefly into traditional femininity in Christian Dior’s radical “New Look”. Suddenly her skirt drops to her ankle, her shoulders narrow, and her waist is clinched as a half-century before.” Fr Ganeau It is honoured by the official United Nations emblem awarded for International Women’s year. The plate is 21cm in diameter and is number DB271 from the first edition subscription number 529 in 1982 by Henri D’ Arceau L. & Fils, Porcelain of Limoges, France and supplied by Bradford Exchange.
